MARKER RENDERINGS
The assignment was to create a newsletter and design ads and use four of your own renderings. After analyzing three major newspapers, I chose The Wall Street Journal because of its well-organized and aesthetically pleasing appearance. The content is distributed in a balanced way, usinga five-column grid for flexibility and authenticity. I used flow and emphasis to draw attention to headings, subheads, and strategic image placement. Contrast was achieved through images and gray boxes.
This project was completed using Adobe InDesign, and I utilized both serif and sans-serif fonts. I chose this font combination because it is commonly used in major newspapers and is visually appealing. Sans-serif fonts are bold and impactful, which helps to grab the reader's attention, while serif fonts are timeless, clean, and legible, making them ideal for body text. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the end result of this design. I believe that I successfully achieved The Wall Street Journal's appearance with some personalized tweaks to create a unique and visually appealing newsletter.
